Every true rider out there will echo the same sentiment as lonesoldier84 does below... Reps to him for putting this feeling into words... feelings which many of us struggle to describe.
--------------------------------------------
When you "operate" a motorcycle it is more of a union of two entities than it is one operating the other. The sheer amount of controls on a motorcycle compared to a car is one reason for this as the level of user input is so great it crosses the boundary from "operating" to "linking with". Add to this the nature of the relationship of the man in the act of riding the motorcycle and that union is given much more depth. Your body becomes another part of the motorcycle. Your weight is its weight. Your movement is its movement. Your eyes are its eyes. Your ears are its ears. Your adrenaline is its inspiration. Your fear is its timidity. Your experience is its wisdom. You give to the motorcycle your life-force and it is risen from the realm of machine into something greater. This relationship is bi-directional though. The motorcycle gives you its speed. The motorcycle gives you its primal urges for you to mold. The motorcycle gives you itself, completely, and as a whole. It does not with-hold from you any part of itself. It gives itself to its master with a purity of spirit that exists far too rarely in this world of ours. At some point in this mutual relationship of sharing and unity, something magical happens. As you phase yourself into the motorcycle, and the motorcycle gives itself to you, the boundaries of man and machine begin to blur. As you and the machine ride, these two entities become one. As your purity of love and passion rise in intensity, and as the machine serves as a pure, clean, and empty vessel......you imbue upon the machine a part of yourself. The motorcycle does not have a soul of its own. But as the most blessed of machines, it has been ordained by the heavens that this machine will be given a gift at some point in its life if united with its rightful rider. That gift is the soul of the rider becomes the soul of the machine in much the same way as a bacteria splits in two and becomes two living entities. The rider gives birth to the soul which he himself imbues in the machine, thereby giving the machine life and a soul of its own. This process is not done intentionally. And it is not done artificially. It is a very natural process. When a rider feels the passion of riding the perfect machine for him very intensely, as the two ride together.....at some point there begins a bleeding process. The man's intense feelings of pure exhilaration and freedom release his inner spirit. That inner spirit bleeds into the motorcycle in the same way a red-coloured dye bleeds into and soaks into clothing. The motorcycle is the object which absorbs this as no other machine can for the simple reason that the man and the machine are physically united in a perfect union which permits this bleeding process to take place so effortlessly. That is why, after a long and intense ride, when the man is leaving his motorcycle in the garage.....he reaches out and strokes her gently, lovingly, passionately. He does not tell others he speaks to her, for fear of their labelling him a madman. But he loves this womachine in a very special way. It is a part of himself that he can look at and physically touch. It is the physical personification of the best part of his inner soul. It is his motorcycle.

I'm not sure if the picture looks scary, but this scene in real life was spooky. A shed in the middle of no where, with red light coming out of vertical slits, I'm telling you, it was freaky; also throw in an enormous lake in the background with a creaky pier leading to the middle of the lake.

Little Pi loves God, so he believes all religions to be true and equal. He is Hindu, Christian and Muslim in one - He is pious and does puja at the temple, prays to christ at the church, and offers namaz at the local mosque. His 'religious' teachers think he is coming along nicely when they all find out he has been following three religions. They insist he choose one, but he echos Mahatma Gandhi's words "All religions are true", and that he only wants to love God. The three men are stunned, but pull away with stiff, grudging smiles on their faces.
When Pi's brother Ravi finds out what happened, he has a field day.
"So, Swami Jesus, will you go on the hajj this year?" he said, bringing the palms of his hands together in front of his face in a reverent namaskar, "Does Mecca beckon?" He crossed himself. "Or will it be to Rome for your coronation as the next Pope Pius?" He drew in the air a Greek letter, making clear the spelling of his Mockery. "Have you found time yet to get the end of your pecker cut off and become a Jew" At the rate you're going, if you go to temple on Thursday, mosque on Friday, synagogue on Saturday and church on Sunday, you only need to convert to three more religions to be on holiday for the rest of your life"

I'll be honest about it. It is not atheists who get stuck in my craw, but agnostics. Doubt is useful for a while. We must all pass thorough the garden of Gethsemane. If Christ played with doubt, so must we. If Christ spent an anguished night in prayer, if He burst out from the Cross, "My God, my God, why have your forsaken me?" then surely we are also permitted doubt. But we must move on. To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.
- Yann Martel, The Life Of Pi
Martel preaches to us about the downsides of agnosticism. As an agnostic myself, you could say my belief in factual evidence is a little too strong to swing either way. I believe faith and atheism can be seen through the same lens - both espouse blind belief without concrete evidence. I cannot choose sides based on faith - as a man of science, I need evidence to back my beliefs. I personally think Agnosticism is appropriate. I'm not going to choose a side just because I have to - it doesn't make any sense. I would rather strike the middle ground, and resolve the argument than blindly believe something which may or may not be there. And I'm not alone, for Science, and various schools of pohilosophy are inherently agnostic.
Agnosticism isn't as bad as Martel makes it out to be, and it definitely deserves a better comparison than to a character, who may just be smoke and mirrors. I'm not dissing Christianity, I have great respect for the people in it, just not much for the faith itself. And this goes to every other religion out there.

Really, this has been waiting in the wings for too long... and I finally did it!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please say hello to Roxanne, my new (... well, used actually) Yamaha FZ6. She has a 4 cylinder, 600cc engine which outputs 98 hp, and oodles of torque. Trust me when I say this is a major upgrade from my old 150cc Pulsar. I'm getting her primed for the big summer.. expect daily commuting, long weekend rides, and REALLY LONG weekend rides. I apologize for the ghastly picture, but you can only do so much with a cellphone camera and an 8:00 PM evening. Cheers!
